Dealing with stress – alternative therapies

Everyone gets stressed. Every day, people of all ages encounter something that makes them feel stressed, and for our 16 year olds, now is the most stressful time: exam season. More specifically, results day. Who can remember walking into the hall, waiting for that big brown envelope that could make or break you, and what you wanted to do with your future. As a teenager, things are often this dramatic sounding.

Ways to deal with stress at The Norfolk Clinic

For moments of stress, we all need a pick-me-up. At the Norfolk Clinic, we have therapists that are dedicated to making you feel relaxed, stress-free, and like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders.

As someone who often stresses out about the little things, there’s nothing better than a little bit of TLC to make all the difference. That’s why we offer a range of  treatments that are bound to have you feeling like whatever your exam results are, you’re ready to conquer the world!

Massage treatments for stress

Take for example the deep tissue massage. Designed to relax stressed muscles and relieve aches and pains, this massage is perfect for putting the big, scary world on hold, and just focusing on you for a little while. With trained massage therapists who definitely know what they’re doing, it’s pretty much guaranteed to melt your ‘D in Math’ away.
If you like physical exercise as a coping method, those aches and pains can still find you. That’s why we have to let you know about sports massages. Offered at the Norfolk Clinic, this massage is designed to help relieve sports-based aches and pains with the manipulation of soft tissue, and is widely for people who exercise regularly, but it can be for anyone. So if you got an A in GCSE PE, then this is probably the best way to celebrate!
If like some you are quite a spiritual person, then maybe you should go down the holistic massage route. Combining Swedish massage with the ethos and teachings of Eastern therapies, this massage focuses on more than just your body. The holistic massage focuses on mind, body, and spirit to give you that “feel good factor” and allows you to relax physically and mentally. If you’re the sort of person who worries a lot, this could be the treatment for you.

Counselling for stress

If massages are not for you, then not to worry. The Norfolk Clinic offers counselling for those of you out there that have a lot to say, but not too many people to say it to. Our trained counsellors at the clinic have a lot of experience in dealing with stress and anxiety from all age groups. You don’t have to be shy; you can just vent, or get everything off of your chest. That always makes us feel better.

Reflexology for stress

Ever heard of reflexology? This treatment works on the reflex points in your hands, feet, head, and even ears, to promote relaxation throughout the whole body. Believe it or not, this treatment actually helps with stress and anxiety disorders. This is because when the treatment is performed including the hands and feet, the effect can be felt throughout the whole body. That’s a sure way to flush out negative energy!

Regardless of what results you get in an exam or what life throws at you, the Norfolk Clinic’s treatments could benefit you greatly. If you think so too, you should contact us on 01603 660792 or email [email protected] and remember, you have control over your future, not some letters on a page.
